5 Chinese Cosmetics Brands You Should Know About

We are all familiar with Western and Korean cosmetics brands such as Lancôme, Maybelline, Innisfree, Etude House and so on. But China also has their own domestic cosmetics brands that are worth checking out! The Chinese cosmetics industry is currently on the rise as the Chinese government continues to offer their support to domestic brands and work to dispel the notion that all foreign brands are superior. Here are some of the most well known cosmetics brands from China, and their best selling products. Let’s take a look!

Chando was established in Shanghai in 2009 and is one of the most successful domestic cosmetics brands in China, with endorsements from the likes of Fan Bingbing and other Chinese celebrities. They operate throughout mainland China and also have retail locations in the USA, Russia and Britain.

Herborist was founded in 1988 and is a premium cosmetics brand in China inspired by combining traditional Chinese herbal medicine with more modern skincare technology. It’s a brand from Jahwa – a Chinese cosmetics group giant created 110 years ago in Shanghai. You can also find this brand in the USA and throughout Europe.

Maysu was established in Shanghai, and founded in 2001. The brand is dedicated to Asian skin types and has had commercials directed by famed director Wong Kar Wai and starring Shu Qi. While the brand is primarily marketed to the Chinese market, they have a loyal following in Europe and the UK.

KanS Cosmetics Co., was founded in 2002 in Shanghai. Environmentally friendly and sustainable products have grown in popularity in China in the last decade (for good reason!), and KanS advertises itself as being at the forefront of the movement as a member of the Solar Impulse Foundation.

Marie Dalgar

Marie Dalgar was founded in 2006 by Cui Xiaohong, a young makeup artist who heard the complaints of her friends about how short their eyelashes were and wanted to help. The brand philosophy is that makeup in itself is an art form and form of personal expression.
